Christian Testimonies

A Global Home, H.E.

I grew up in a Christian family that met with the church in Long Beach. Our house was constantly filled with Christians from all over the world. People visiting southern California for international Christian conferences would stay with us. This afforded me an opportunity to see that loving the Lord wasn't just something within my family, or even in the United States, but that it was something outside of race, culture, and nationality.

One particular example of this was when my family was giving hospitality to a Russian couple that had recently immigrated to the United States. The brother spoke broken English and the sister hardly spoke any. Despite the language barrier, we enjoyed sweet fellowship together. Around our dinner table, sipping tea, we often talked late into the night about the Lord and our experiences of Him. They told stories about being Christians during Communism in Russia and how much persecution they received. I was touched by their love for the Lord despite what others thought of them.

This is only one of may experiences that I have had at my home and around the world in my travels, where I experienced Christ in a way that was outside of culture. It's easy to fellowship with those that are like us and have the same background. But what a testimony it is to the Lord as Paul said in Galatians 3:28, that “There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there cannot be slave nor free man, there cannot be male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
